When and why did you think about becoming a performer in a all male dance show? I actually had a few friends already in the show and loved seeing their lifestyle online. It sounded like it was amazing – alot of travelling & having fun. From there I applied for a job which I was lucky enough to get!
What do you like the most about the profession? The best part of the job is making people happy. We get told often that we’ve made someone’s day, week or even year, simply because they were able to leave their problems at the door and have a care-free night out with their friends. You never know what someone is going through in their personal life, and sometimes coming to our show is a way to escape reality, let their hair down and overall have a fun night out.
What is it like behind the scenes? A lot of stretching! The job is very physical and draining on your body, so you need to make sure you keep in shape. Also a lot of laughter and joking around as we’re all best mates, so there’s never a dull moment on the job!
Are there any rituals before the show starts? A pre-show energy drink or coffee is always a must as we have to give 110% at each show!
What does it take to be a successful performer in such a sexy and high energy seduction show? Personality! I think that is the key ingredient to our shows success. All the guys are very humble, down to earth and easy to get along with which is why our guests always love meeting us at the end of each show.
Did you have to take any classes? I didn’t take any classes, however when you move to Vegas, you are initially put into an extensive 8 week dance training schedule. None of the performers in the show are professional dancers, we all had regular jobs prior to joining Thunder From Down Under.
How is it like to be almost completely nude on stage? You actually forget about it to be honest! Our show is fully choreographed, so most of the time you’re thinking about your positioning on stage and what moves you have coming up next.
What is the biggest blooper you experienced? I have been very lucky to not have had anything go wrong (still to this date!), however I can’t say the same for my castmates. Let’s just say they have had some ‘wardrobe malfunctions’ with underwear...
In what theatre or country was the most amazing show? My favourite show was in Windsor, Canada. It’s at Caesar’s Palace and we performed to 5,000 people! It was definitely exhilarating to say the least.
Are all the acts self-invented? Yes! We have a fantastic choreographer who runs through numbers with us. The entire show is Thunder originals.
What was the rudest thing anyone from the audience did? Everyone is pretty respectful at the shows. We have great audience members – sometimes they get a little too excited and scratch you or try to bite you, but that’s about it!
What can the audience expect from Thunder in this show? It’s not what you would imagine a ‘male strip show’ is. It’s a fully choreographed dynamic show with costumes, acrobatics, state of the art production and even some comedy. It’s not sleezy at all...you could evemn bring your grandmother! The audience can expect to hage lots of fun, no matter their age.
Thunder has performed in Holland before, can you see a difference between the American and European audience? European audiences are definitely a lot more shy. We love it when everyone is screaming and having a good time, so bring the energy!
Are there any places in Holland you will visit in your spare time and what is special about that place? The entire country is beautiful and is actually my most favourite country that I have visited. I like how clean it is and how lovely the people are. I’ll definitely be making my way back to Rotterdam. I enjoyed several restaurants there and loved the scenery, so I would definitely like to go back again.
Is it possible for the audience to take a selfie with the guys? Yes definitely! Every single person has the opportunity to get a photo with the guys when the show is done...it’s encouraged!
